SMP Robotics S5 Security Robot making waves in Singapore

Singapore (3 November 2016) – Introduced for the first time in Asia Pacific, the SMP S5 full autonomous all weather security robots from SMP Robotics received overwhelming interests and prime time TV news coverage.

SMP Robotics Singapore introduced it’s S5 security robot at the inaugural Singapore International Robo Expo held over 1 & 2 November 2016 at the iconic Singapore Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre.

Live demonstrations of the robot’s autonomous patrolling and obstacle avoidance capabilities were the highlight of the Expo. Guest of Honour Singapore Minister of Trade and Industry (Industry) Mr S Iswaran and other distinguish guests at the show were treated to a live hands-on on the robot operation and experienced the robot’s effective obstacle avoidance capability. The robot live demonstration was featured as the main news item for the Expo and making into the evening prime time news bulletins in major TV channels – Channel NewsAsia, Channel 5, Channel 8 (in Mandarin language), Channel U (In Mandarin language) and Suria (in Malay language).

Delegates at the Expo were impressed and amazed at the robot’s capability in automatically avoid and navigate around obstacles including dynamic human movements. The robot continuous full 360-degree video coverage and auto target acquisition and tracking capability and transmission to command centre was also demonstrated.

The introduction of SMP Robotics S5 full autonomous security robot in Singapore is very timely in addressing the difficulty of hiring quality security guards – especially in outdoor environment. With the rising cost in employing security guard, the SMP S5 robot provides a cost effective supplement solution to organisation that required to secure their assets, in particularly MRT depots, air fields, ports, refineries and large manufacturing facilities.
